XHTML and CSS

Comparing HTML and XHTML draw a summary, in blogform, of how the standards are critical in the way the World Wide Web is developing. In your answer you must explain why there was a need for XHTML and what role, in particular, CSS has to do with the development of the web.

XHTML

Basically XHTML makes for an easier transition between HTML and XML in the near future. Instead of having to redo the entire site or document, only a few modifications are required. With new portable devices such as wireless internet laptops and mobile phones coming into the world, it makes it harder to create web sites to fit the screens of all these different devices. XHTML allows the site to function properly on all portable and non-portable devices.

CSS

CSS changes the way web pages are displayed. Cascading Style Sheets allow web designers to control web page elements such as fonts, colours, and spacing. This gives web designers more control over what the end result of the web site will look like. The main role that CSS has in web development is the ability to make site layout much easier and more organised.
